Western blot - Anti-Calpain 5 antibody [HL2432] (AB317224)
Various whole cell extracts (30 ug) were separated by 7.5% SDS-PAGE and the membrane was blotted with ab317224 diluted at 1 : 1000. The HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG antibody was used to detect the primary antibody. Corresponding RNA expression data for the same cell lines are based on Human Protein Atlas program.

Biological function summary
Calpain 5 acts without forming complexes with calmodulin or calpastatin which is common in other calpain family members. It modulates cellular processes such as cytoskeleton remodeling and cellular signaling. It plays roles in cell cycle progression and apoptosis by regulating molecules involved in these processes. Calpain 5 interacts with cytoskeletal proteins and promotes degradation or remodeling facilitating normal cellular function and adaptation to stress.
Pathways
Calpain 5 functions are relevant in signal transduction and apoptosis pathways. In signal transduction it participates in protein kinase C-related pathways where it modulates protein activity critical for cell communication. Regarding apoptosis Calpain 5 interacts with BCL-2 family proteins which are key regulators of cell death influencing cell survival outcomes.
