Immunohistochemistry - Anti-Calretinin antibody [6A9] (AB277631)

Perfusion-fixed, free floating sections of rat hippocampus section stained for Calretinin using ab277631 (green) at 1/2000 dilution, and counterstained with chicken pAb to parvalbumin (red) at 1/1000 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis. The blue is DAPI staining of nuclear DNA. The calretinin and parvalbumin antibodies stain different subsets of GABAergic interneurons.

Target data

Calcium-binding protein involved in calcium homeostasis and signal transduction. It plays a critical role in buffering intracellular calcium levels and modulating calcium-dependent signaling pathways (PubMed : 2001709). Predominantly expressed in specific neuronal populations, influences synaptic plasticity and neuronal excitability, contributing to learning and memory (By similarity). During embryonic development, it facilitates neuronal differentiation and maturation (By similarity).
