ELISA - Anti-cAMP antibody [EP8471] - BSA and Azide free (AB179459)

This data was developed using ab134901, the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation.

Competitive ELISA antigen dose-response graph using purified ab134901 (0.25 µg/mL). Antigen concentration of 0.1 µg/mL. 0.1 μg/mL antigen was coated. Free cAMP and other competitors (2.5 mg/mL) were added respectively. AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG FC-HRP (1/2500 dilution) was used as the secondary antibody.

Product details

ab179459 is the carrier-free version of ab134901.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) serves as an essential secondary messenger in various signal transduction pathways. Known also by its chemical abbreviation cAMP this small molecule has a mass of approximately 329.21 g/mol. cAMP is synthesized from ATP by the enzyme adenylate cyclase which is present in many cell types notably in neurons and various endocrine tissues. cAMP acts by activating protein kinase A (PKA) which then phosphorylates target proteins to alter cellular function.
Biological function summary

CAMP regulates numerous cellular processes including metabolism gene expression and cell growth. It functions as an important part of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling pathways where its concentration can significantly change influenced by external signals. cAMP modulates the activity of ion channels and various enzymes often participating in feedback loops to maintain cellular homeostasis.

Pathways

CAMP integrates into critical signal transduction pathways such as the cyclic AMP-dependent pathway and the calcium signaling pathway. It works closely with proteins like CREB (cAMP response element-binding protein) to regulate gene transcription. cAMP also impacts other molecules like phosphodiesterases which break it down maintaining its transient nature in response to stimuli.

Irregular cAMP levels associate with pathologies like heart failure and certain types of cancer. Disruptions in cAMP signaling can lead to abnormal cell growth or inadequate cellular response to hormonal signals. Through its interaction with proteins like CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator) cAMP influences disorders such as cystic fibrosis highlighting its critical role in maintaining cellular function and signaling balance.
