This data was developed using ab278509 the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation.

Immunofluorescent analysis of 4% Paraformaldehyde-fixed, 0.1% Triton X-100 permeabilized MCF7 cells labelling CD24 with ab278509 at 1/50 (18.44 μg/ml) dilution, followed by ab150113 Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) antibody at 1/1000 dilution (Green). ab179513 Anti-beta Tubulin rabbit monoclonal antibody was used to counterstain tubulin at 1/200 dilution, followed by ab150080 Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 594) at 1/500 dilution (Red). The nuclear counterstain was DAPI (Blue).

Negative control 1 : ab278509 at a 1/50 dilution followed by ab150080 at a 1/200 dilution.

Negative control 2 : ab179513 at a 1/200 dilution followed by ab150113 at a 1/1000 dilution.

Flow cytometric analysis of MDA-MB-231 (Human breast adenocarcinoma epithelial cells) (Left panel) and MCF7 (Human breast adenocarcinoma epithelial cells) (Right panel) cells labelling CD24 with ab278509 at 1/1000 dilution (0.1μg) (Red) compared with a isotype control (Black) and an unlabelled control (cells without incubation with primary antibody and secondary antibody) (Blue). Goat anti mouse IgG (Alexa Fluor® 488, ab150113) at 1/2000 dilution was used as the secondary antibody.

CD24 also known as heat-stable antigen or CD24A is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored membrane protein with a molecular mass of approximately 30-50 kDa. It is expressed on the surface of many cell types including B cells T cells neutrophils and epithelial cells. CD24 plays a role in cell adhesion and signaling processes impacting immune response and cancer progression. Its expression is often used as a marker in identification and classification procedures such as flow cytometry.
Biological function summary

CD24 functions like a molecular "switch" modulating signals sent between cells. It acts as a ligand for multiple receptors and participates in cellular communication especially influencing the immune system. Part of its biological role involves interaction within cellular complexes impacting immune modulation and inflammatory responses. Target data

May have a pivotal role in cell differentiation of different cell types. Signaling could be triggered by the binding of a lectin-like ligand to the CD24 carbohydrates, and transduced by the release of second messengers derived from the GPI-anchor. Modulates B-cell activation responses. Promotes AG-dependent proliferation of B-cells, and prevents their terminal differentiation into antibody-forming cells (PubMed : 11313396). In association with SIGLEC10 may be involved in the selective suppression of the immune response to danger-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) such as HMGB1, HSP70 and HSP90. Plays a role in the control of autoimmunity (By similarity).
