Membrane immune adherence receptor that plays a critical role in the capture and clearance of complement-opsonized pathogens by erythrocytes and monocytes/macrophages (PubMed:2963069). Mediates the binding by these cells of particles and immune complexes that have activated complement to eliminate them from the circulation (PubMed:2963069). Acts also in the inhibition of spontaneous complement activation by impairing the formation and function of the alternative and classical pathway C3/C5 convertases, and by serving as a cofactor for the cleavage by factor I of C3b to iC3b, C3c and C3d,g, and of C4b to C4c and C4d (PubMed:2972794, PubMed:8175757). Also plays a role in immune regulation by contributing, upon ligand binding, to the generation of regulatory T cells from activated helper T cells (PubMed:25742728).(Microbial infection) Acts as a receptor for Epstein-Barr virus.

This antibody clone is manufactured by Abcam. If you require a custom buffer formulation or conjugation for your experiments, please contact orders@abcam.com
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Flow cytometric analysis of human peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) cells labelling CD35 / CR1 with Anti-CD35 antibody [7G9] ab254151 at 1/1000 dilution (0.1μg) (Right panel) compared with a mouse monoclonal IgG isotype control (Left panel). Goat anti mouse IgG (Alexa Fluor® 488, Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) ab150113) at 1/2000 dilution was used as the secondary antibody.
Cells were stained with mouse IgG (Left) or Anti-CD35 antibody [7G9] ab254151 (Right), then stained with anti-CD19 conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 647.
Gated on viable cells.
This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (Anti-CD35 antibody [7G9] ab254151).
Immunofluorescent analysis of 4% Paraformaldehyde-fixed, 0.1% Triton X-100 permeabilized human PBMC cells labelling CD35 / CR1 with Anti-CD35 antibody [7G9] ab254151 at 1/100 dilution, followed by Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) ab150113 Goat Anti-mouse IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) antibody at 1/1000 dilution (Green). Confocal image showing membranous and cytoplasmic staining in human PBMC. Anti-beta Tubulin antibody [EPR16774] ab179513 Anti-beta Tubulin rabbit monoclonal antibody was used to counterstain tubulin at 1/500 dilution, followed by Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 594) ab150080 Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 594) (Red). The nuclear counterstain was DAPI (Blue).
Negative control 1: Anti-CD35 antibody [7G9] ab254151 at a 1/100 dilution followed by Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 594) ab150080 at a 1/500 diliution.
Negative control 2: Anti-beta Tubulin antibody [EPR16774] ab179513 at a 1/500 dilution followed by Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) ab150113 at a 1/1000 diliution.
