Product details

ab272370 is a BSA and Azide Free antibody supplied in an unconjugated format and it is suitable for sandwich ELISAs to quantify Human CG beta. The recommended pair for sandwich ELISA is:
Capture: ab272370, Human CG beta Capture Antibody (unconjugated)
Detector: ab272371, Human CG beta Detector Antibody (unconjugated)
The reference range value is 23.4375 - 1500 pg/ml.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Sandwich ELISA
The recommended antibody orientation is based on internal optimization for ELISA-based assays. Antibody orientation is assay dependent and needs to be optimized for each assay type. Please note that the range provided for this antibody is only an estimation based on the performance of the product using the recommended antibody pair. Performance of the antibody pair will depend on the specific characteristics of your assay. We guarantee the product works in sandwich ELISA, but we do not guarantee the sensitivity or dynamic range of the antibody in your assay.

Supplementary information

Chorionic Gonadotropin often called hCG is a glycoprotein hormone essential for reproductive processes. With a molecular mass of about 37 kDa it consists of an alpha and beta subunit. It shares the alpha subunit with other pituitary glycoprotein hormones but the beta subunit is distinct and gives hCG its unique biological activity. The hormone is mainly expressed in the placenta during pregnancy supporting corpus luteum function and stimulating the production of progesterone. This expression plays a primary role in maintaining the early stages of pregnancy.
Biological function summary

HCG promotes fetal development and modulates the maternal immune response to support a successful pregnancy. It acts as a signal between the developing placenta and maternal cells. Furthermore hCG belongs to a hormone-receptor complex binding to the luteinizing hormone/chorionic gonadotropin receptor (LH/CG receptor) on target tissues. This interaction triggers intracellular pathways that are vital for maintaining pregnancy dynamics.

Pathways

HCG is integral in reproductive and endocrine signaling pathways. Participating in the cAMP-dependent signaling pathway it activates adenylate cyclase after binding to its receptor increasing cyclic AMP levels and protein kinase A (PKA) activity. hCG is also related to luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) as they share the alpha subunit and interact with similar receptors facilitating communication within reproductive hormonal pathways.

HCG serves as a biomarker for certain trophoblastic diseases and testicular cancer. Elevated levels of hCG may indicate gestational trophoblastic disease while abnormal hCG patterns can be associated with testicular cancer in males. Additionally hCG levels relate to disorders like hyperemesis gravidarum a severe form of nausea during pregnancy. Its interactions with proteins such as the LH/CG receptor play a part in these disease contexts offering diagnostic and potential therapeutic insights.

Target data

Beta subunit of the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). hCG is a complex glycoprotein composed of two glycosylated subunits alpha and beta which are non-covalently associated. The alpha subunit is identical to those in the pituitary gonadotropin hormones (LH, FSH and TSH). The beta subunits are distinct in each of the hormones and confer receptor and biological specificity. Has an essential role in pregnancy and maternal adaptation. Stimulates the ovaries to synthesize the steroids that are essential for the maintenance of pregnancy.
