Paraffin-embedded human lung tissue stained for CPNE8 using ab237541 at 1/600 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis.

After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30 minutes at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.

The protein CPNE8 also known as Copine-8 is part of the copine family and weighs approximately 61 kDa. CPNE8 contains C2 and A domain structures that help it act as a calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein. Researchers have found CPNE8 expression in various tissues but it is most notably expressed in the brain. It has a significant role in cellular processes by mediating membrane trafficking and signal transduction.
Biological function summary

The functions of CPNE8 extend to cellular signaling and intracellular interactions. It is suggested that CPNE8 may participate in lipid-binding activities which could affect cellular structural balance and cell communication processes.
