Paraffin-embedded human lung tissue stained for CPNE8 using ab237541 at 1/600 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis.
After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30 minutes at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.

Biological function summary
The functions of CPNE8 extend to cellular signaling and intracellular interactions. It is suggested that CPNE8 may participate in lipid-binding activities which could affect cellular structural balance and cell communication processes. CPNE8 is not currently known to be part of any complex but shares similarities with other copine proteins. This enables it possibly to interact with distinct molecular pathways that require calcium ions for activation and transduction.

CPNE8 is involved with signal transduction processes that regulate calcium-dependent activities. Two important pathways associated with CPNE8 include the calcium signaling pathway and membrane trafficking pathway. CPNE8's role in calcium signaling may involve interactions with proteins such as PKC (protein kinase C) which are critical for many signaling cascades. Its involvement in membrane trafficking suggests a connection to vesicular transport dynamics within cells.
