Biological function summary
DEAD-box protein 27 participates in ribosome biogenesis and interacts with the pre-rRNA processing complexes. This protein acts as an ATP-dependent helicase contributing to the modification and processing of rRNA during ribosome assembly. It often associates with several nucleolar proteins forming a part of multi-protein complexes essential for the synthesis and maturation of ribosomal subunits.
Pathways
The role of DDX27 integrates mainly within the ribosome biogenesis and RNA processing pathways. It interacts with other DEAD-box proteins such as DDX18 and DDX56 which collaborate in modulating ribosomal RNA processing and ribosome assembly. These pathways are critical for maintaining proper cell proliferation and protein synthesis highlighting its functional importance in cellular processes.
