Supplementary information

DHX35 also known as DExH-box Helicase 35 is a member of the DEAD box protein family characterized by its Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 82 kDa. DHX35 functions mechanically as an ATP-dependent RNA helicase unfurling RNA secondary structures during processes such as transcription and translation. It is widely expressed in various tissues but notable expression occurs in the liver and testis. These helicases are important for manipulating RNA morphology to facilitate cellular processes.
Biological function summary

DHX35 has roles in RNA metabolism influencing processes such as RNA splicing and ribosome biogenesis. It doesn't operate alone; instead it integrates into intricate complexes with other proteins to regulate RNA dynamics. Its activity is important for proper RNA association with ribonucleoprotein complexes impacting RNA-mediated gene expression regulation and maintenance of cellular homeostasis.

Pathways

DHX35 contributes significantly to the RNA processing pathways particularly the RNA splicing pathway. Its interactions with proteins such as small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs) highlight its participation in the spliceosome complex. Furthermore DHX35 also plays a part in ribosome biogenesis pathways linking to proteins such as nucleolin which assist in rRNA transcription and ribosomal assembly.

DHX35 shows connections to genetic disorders like Male Infertility where dysregulation impacts sperm development and function. Additionally variations in DHX35 expression or function have associations with hepatocellular carcinoma suggesting a role in tumor biology. These associations stem from interactions with other proteins like DDX3X which also influence RNA processing in cancer and reproductive health.
