DIXDC1 also known as Dixin or Ccd1 functions as a cytoplasmic signal transducer involved in the regulation of the Wnt signaling pathway. The protein has a molecular weight of approximately 86 kDa. It is expressed in various tissues with higher expression levels in the central nervous system including the brain. The protein plays a significant role in cellular signaling and cytoskeletal organization impacting different cellular processes.
DIXDC1 influences cellular dynamics by participating in cell migration and invasion. It acts as a stabilizing component in complexes with other proteins within signaling pathways. The protein interacts with Dishevelled (Dvl) proteins facilitating Wnt signaling. DIXDC1 also contributes to the modulation of the actin cytoskeleton thereby impacting cell morphology and motility.
The role of DIXDC1 becomes evident within the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and cytoskeletal reorganization processes. The protein interacts with key components like Dishevelled proteins which are central to Wnt signaling. Moreover DIXDC1 links to the Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1) pathway which impacts actin filament dynamics and cellular movement. Lane 1: HEK-293T (human epithelial cell line from embryonic kidney transformed with large T antigen) whole cell lysate at 50 µg
