Product details

ab233697 is the carrier-free version of ab216869.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

DPS1 also known as Damage Protection Protein 1 plays a significant role at the mechanical level by acting as a DNA-binding protein that protects DNA from oxidative damage. The protein has an approximate mass of 20 kDa and it is mainly expressed in stress-responsive tissues including the liver and kidney. DPS1 stabilizes DNA by forming homodimers that bind to the DNA providing a shield against harmful agents like free radicals.
Biological function summary

DPS1 contributes to the cellular response to oxidative stress and is integral in the defense mechanism of cells. It interacts with various antioxidants to minimize cellular damage and is a component of the multiprotein DNA protection complex. This complex ensures that cells maintain genomic integrity under stressful conditions enhancing the survival rate of cells exposed to damaging agents.

Pathways

DPS1 is closely involved in the oxidative stress response pathway and the DNA repair pathway. These pathways are critical for cellular homeostasis and cellular longevity. DPS1 works closely with proteins such as NRF2 and SOD1 to modulate the response to oxidative stress coordinating the reduction of reactive oxygen species and initiation of DNA repair processes.

DPS1 has associations with conditions like cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. In cancer disruptions in DPS1 activity can lead to increased DNA damage accumulation contributing to tumor progression. In neurodegenerative disorders the protein's impaired function can result in heightened oxidative stress and neuronal damage. DPS1 interacts with proteins such as p53 in cancer influencing cellular responses to DNA damage and with proteins like APP in neurodegenerative diseases affecting pathways that mitigate oxidative stress.

Target data

Heterotetrameric enzyme that catalyzes the condensation of farnesyl diphosphate (FPP), which acts as a primer, and isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP) to produce prenyl diphosphates of varying chain lengths and participates in the determination of the side chain of ubiquinone (PubMed : 16262699). Supplies nona and decaprenyl diphosphate, the precursors for the side chain of the isoprenoid quinones ubiquinone-9 (Q9)and ubiquinone-10 (Q10) respectively (PubMed : 16262699). The enzyme adds isopentenyl diphosphate molecules sequentially to farnesyl diphosphate with trans stereochemistry (PubMed : 16262699).
