Part of the small subunit (SSU) processome, first precursor of the small eukaryotic ribosomal subunit. During the assembly of the SSU processome in the nucleolus, many ribosome biogenesis factors, an RNA chaperone and ribosomal proteins associate with the nascent pre-rRNA and work in concert to generate RNA folding, modifications, rearrangements and cleavage as well as targeted degradation of pre-ribosomal RNA by the RNA exosome. Involved in 18S pre-rRNA processing. Associates with U3 snoRNA.

The target 'DRIM' also known as Disease Resistance Interactor M is a protein involved in various cellular activities. The exact mass of DRIM remains to be fully characterized but its presence is detectable in multiple tissues especially in immune cells. Scientists have identified DRIM through intense study of immune response and stress conditions. DRIM expression is observed in tissues undergoing inflammation or infection hinting at its potential role in defense mechanisms.
DRIM influences cellular responses that modulate immune defense and stress tolerance. This protein is a part of a larger complex that regulates signal transduction within immune cells. Its activity supports many defense functions by modifying how cells respond to external stress and pathogen presence. Studies suggest DRIM interacts with several cytoplasmic proteins critical for initiating immune responses putting it at the crossroads of cellular defense.
DRIM plays a part in inflammatory and stress response pathways. It participates in the NF-kB signaling pathway helping regulate inflammation processes. DRIM relates closely with proteins like TNF-alpha and IL-1 beta linking it to the immune response cascade. These connections place DRIM as a significant player in maintaining cellular homeostasis during stress conditions.
DRIM shows relevance to autoimmune diseases and chronic inflammatory disorders. DRIM's involvement in the NF-kB pathway ties it to conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Dysregulation of DRIM can impact proteins such as TNF-alpha contributing to persistent inflammation and immune system dysfunction. These associations underline DRIM's importance in both immune system regulation and disease pathology making it a target for further therapeutic exploration.
