Biological function summary
EIF3D integrates into the large EIF3 complex which consists of multiple subunits and is vital for the proper assembly of the 40S ribosomal subunit. This assembly process is essential for the initiation of translation acting as a scaffold for other initiation factors. EIF3D contributes to the stabilization and binding of mRNAs to the ribosome facilitating efficient translation initiation. The protein is integral for mRNA selection and because of its interaction within the complex it influences cellular proliferation and growth.
Pathways
EIF3D participates actively in translation initiation and mRNA surveillance pathways. These pathways regulate gene expression at the translational level maintaining the fidelity and quality control of protein synthesis.
