We have systematically measured KD (the equilibrium dissociation constant between the antibody and its antigen), of more than 840 recombinant antibodies to assess not only their individual KD values but also to see the average affinity of antibody. Based on the comparison with published literature values for mouse monoclonal antibodies, Recombinant antibodies appear to be on average 1-2 order of magnitude higher affinity.

Supplementary information

ENPP5 also known as Ectonucleotide Pyrophosphatase/Phosphodiesterase Family Member 5 is an enzyme that belongs to the ENPP family. It plays a role in the hydrolysis of phosphodiester bonds although specific substrates for ENPP5 remain less well-defined compared to other ENPPs. This protein has a molecular weight of approximately 49 kDa. ENPP5 is mainly expressed in tissues such as the brain and the kidneys suggesting it holds specialized functions in these areas.
Biological function summary

Researchers propose that ENPP5 contributes to nucleotide metabolism and signaling processes. Although ENPP5 is not directly part of a larger protein complex it functions alongside similar enzymes sharing common substrates and physiological roles. By maintaining balance in the extracellular nucleotide levels ENPP5 can influence processes such as cellular signaling potentially affecting cell growth and differentiation in its primary tissues.

Pathways

ENPP5 activity relates to purine metabolism and the signal transduction pathways that involve nucleotides. One primary pathway where it plays a role is the nucleotide catabolic process interacting indirectly with proteins such as ENPP1 and ENPP2 that manage pyrophosphate and phospholipid metabolism. ENPP5 by breaking down nucleotides influences signal transduction pathways like the P2Y receptor-mediated pathways which are important for various physiological functions.

ENPP5 has connections with conditions involving defective nucleotide metabolism or signaling imbalances. Researchers suggest possible links to neurological disorders due to its expression in the brain though exact implications require further study. ENPP5 alongside proteins like ENPP1 may show involvement in pathologies characterized by abnormal ectonucleotide levels. However more research is essential to establish clear associations with specific diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders or renal pathologies.
