EPS8L2 also known as Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Substrate 8-Like Protein 2 plays a mechanical role in cellular signaling and cytoskeletal organization. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 97 kDa. EPS8L2 expresses in various tissues including the brain liver and testis where it contributes to diverse cellular processes. Its structural components include actin-binding domains which allow interaction with the cytoskeleton and other signaling molecules.
EPS8L2 regulates actin cytoskeleton dynamics and signal transduction pathways. It is part of the EPS8 family of proteins and functions within a complex to mediate cell shape and movement. This protein acts as a scaffold that facilitates interactions among actin filaments and other proteins which influences cell migration and invasion. EPS8L2 modifies actin-related changes that are essential in dynamic cellular environments.
EPS8L2 integrates into the EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) signaling pathway influencing cellular growth and differentiation. In another role it participates in the MAPK/ERK pathway by interacting with components like GRB2 and SOS1. These pathways control various aspects of cell behavior impacting cell proliferation and survival.
