Biological function summary
FAF1 interacts with ubiquitin-like modifiers to influence the cellular response to stress. It is part of the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) where it contributes to the regulation of apoptosis. In addition to apoptosis FAF1 plays a role in regulating protein degradation processes connecting its function to proteostasis in cells.
Pathways
FAF1 takes part in significant cellular processes including the apoptotic signaling pathway and the NF-kB signaling pathway. In these pathways it interacts with FAS and NF-kB proteins contributing to cell death and inflammatory responses respectively. The influence on these pathways showcases its role in maintaining balance between cell survival and cell death.
