FAM107B also known as FLJ22026 or neuron navigator 3-like protein functions mechanically through interaction with other cellular proteins. This protein has an approximate molecular mass of 14 kilodaltons. It expresses mainly in neuronal tissues but also appears in other cell types at lower levels. Its pattern of expression suggests a role in cell-specific functions possibly linked to its mechanical properties.
The protein FAM107B contributes to maintaining cellular processes in the nervous system. Although not part of a larger complex it seems to support cellular responses to stress and repair mechanisms. Its functions might involve regulation of cellular growth and development. The presence in neural tissues points to a potential role in neural differentiation or maintenance.
FAM107B plays an important role within cellular stress response mechanisms particularly in neural tissues. It associates with pathways related to the MAPK signaling pathway impacting cellular responses to extracellular signals. Additionally it has interactions with proteins like MEK and ERK which are important in transmitting signals from receptors on the cell surface to DNA in the nucleus.
