ab248391 is the carrier-free version of Anti-FBP2 antibody [EPR7436] ab131253.
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.
FBP2 also known as fructose-16-bisphosphatase 2 is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of fructose-16-bisphosphate to fructose 6-phosphate. This reaction is important for the process of gluconeogenesis. FBP2 weighs around 37.6 kDa and is expressed in various tissues including the liver and kidney where it supports energy metabolism by synthesizing glucose from non-carbohydrate precursors.
The enzyme plays a role in glucose homeostasis by regulating gluconeogenesis. It is a part of the fructose-16-bisphosphatase complex that controls the balance between glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. FBP2 activity helps to maintain blood glucose levels particularly during periods of fasting or intense physical activity. By adjusting the rate of glucose production and consumption the enzyme contributes to metabolic flexibility.
FBP2 functions in the regulation of the gluconeogenesis pathway. This pathway is key in maintaining normal blood glucose levels and the enzyme acts in coordination with related enzymes like glucose-6-phosphatase. FBP2 is involved in the balance between glycolysis and gluconeogenesis partnering with enzymes such as phosphofructokinase which perform opposite functions to regulate energy production and consumption. This fine-tuning of energy pathways ensures that cells have a stable supply of glucose adjusting for factors such as nutrient availability and hormonal signals.
FBP2 has connections to metabolic disorders like type 2 diabetes and glycogen storage diseases. Impaired FBP2 activity can disrupt glucose homeostasis leading to dysregulated blood sugar levels characteristic of type 2 diabetes. Additionally the activity of FBP2 can influence the function of other proteins like insulin receptor substrates impacting insulin signaling pathways. Dysfunctions in these pathways can exacerbate insulin resistance and metabolic syndromes emphasizing the significance of FBP2 in maintaining metabolic health.

We have systematically measured KD (the equilibrium dissociation constant between the antibody and its antigen), of more than 840 recombinant antibodies to assess not only their individual KD values but also to see the average affinity of antibody.
Based on the comparison with published literature values for mouse monoclonal antibodies, Recombinant antibodies appear to be on average 1-2 order of magnitude higher affinity.
