Biological function summary
FBXO11 is involved in protein degradation and regulation of the cell cycle. It serves as an important component of the SCF ubiquitin ligase complex where it binds to specific substrates marking them for proteasomal degradation. FBXO11 plays an important role in cellular processes such as DNA damage response and cell growth regulation. By targeting specific proteins for degradation it regulates protein stability which is important for normal cellular proliferation.
Pathways
FBXO11 is critical in the TGF-beta signaling pathway and the apoptosis pathway. In the TGF-beta signaling pathway FBXO11 regulates the stability of inhibitory SMAD proteins like SMAD7 by targeting them for proteasomal degradation. This regulation impacts cellular responses to TGF-beta influencing processes like cell differentiation and immune responses. In apoptosis FBXO11 interacts with other proteins like BCL2 to influence cell survival and programmed cell death.
