FP100 also known by some researchers as Protein Zeta has a molecular mass of approximately 50 kDa. It is an intracellular protein that can be found mostly in the cytoplasm of immune cells including macrophages and dendritic cells. The protein serves as an adapter that interacts with multiple signaling molecules. By doing this it helps facilitate the assembly of protein complexes that are essential for downstream signal transmission.
This protein enables efficient immune cell communication in response to external stimuli. FP100 acts as a scaffold in forming complexes that promote signaling pathways important for immune response activation. It interacts with kinases and phosphatases to regulate signal transduction processes that are responsible for initiating cell activation proliferation and survival.
FP100 is an important participant in the NF-kB and MAPK signaling pathways. These pathways play an important role in mediating inflammatory responses and cell survival. FP100 connects with proteins like IKK-beta in the NF-kB pathway and MEK1/2 in the MAPK pathway assisting in modulating responses to infections or cellular stress.
Variations or dysregulation of FP100 activity relate closely to autoimmune conditions and chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. Its interaction with proteins like TNF-alpha and interleukin-6 places FP100 at a strategic position influencing the pathological progression of these disorders making it a potential therapeutic target for intervention.
