Supplementary information

FYTTD1 also known as UIF or U2AF65-interacting factor plays an essential role mechanically within the spliceosome. The protein has a molecular mass of approximately 63 kDa. FYTTD1 expresses widely across human tissues but shows higher expression in the nucleoplasm of cells. The protein facilitates interactions in pre-mRNA splicing by associating with other components of the spliceosomal complex which is critical for mRNA processing.
Biological function summary

FYTTD1 influences pre-mRNA splicing by forming part of the spliceosome complex. Research shows it interacts with U2AF65 a splicing factor necessary for promoting the assembly of the spliceosome complex on pre-mRNA. FYTTD1 ensures proper exon recognition and the removal of introns contributing to mRNA maturation. Its function is vital within the spliceosomal machinery maintaining the fidelity of gene expression.

Pathways

FYTTD1 supports efficient splicing and processing of pre-mRNA which directly affects mRNA transcript stability and protein synthesis pathways. It ties closely to the spliceosomal pathway and the gene expression regulation process. FYTTD1 works alongside proteins like U2AF65 and SF3B1 illustrating its participation in complex splicing mechanisms that regulate cellular metabolic activities and genome stability.

FYTTD1 is implicated in conditions such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Abnormal splicing involving FYTTD1 can lead to aberrations in gene expression contributing to oncogenesis or faulty neuronal functioning. Studies link FYTTD1 dysregulation with changes in other proteins like SF3B1 and U2AF65 which exhibit altered activity in various cancers and neurological conditions highlighting the importance of its regulated expression.

Target data

Required for mRNA export from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. Acts as an adapter that uses the DDX39B/UAP56-NFX1 pathway to ensure efficient mRNA export and delivering to the nuclear pore. Associates with spliced and unspliced mRNAs simultaneously with ALYREF/THOC4.
