GPR1 a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) is an integral membrane protein that plays a role in cellular signaling. Known alternatively as G protein-coupled receptor 1 its mass is about 41 kDa. GPR1 localizes in the cell membrane primarily expressed in tissues like the brain and kidney. Its function involves interaction with specific ligands leading to the activation of G-proteins and the downstream signaling cascade. This makes it an important player in transmitting extracellular signals to the interior of the cell.
Biological function summary

GPR1 takes part in inflammatory response and metabolism regulation. It does not appear to form part of a larger protein complex functioning independently in the pathways it influences.
