Biological function summary
GRF2 functions as a critical regulator of signal transduction pathways. It forms part of signaling complexes that transmit signals from receptors on the cell surface to intracellular effectors. Through its GEF activity GRF2 influences cytoskeletal reorganization which impacts cell morphology motility and growth. It interacts with other proteins such as ELMO1 to facilitate cellular responses to external stimuli.
Pathways
GRF2 integrates into the MAPK/ERK pathway amplifying signals that trigger cellular proliferation and survival. GRF2 also links to the Rho/ROCK pathway regulating actin dynamics and cellular architecture. Within these pathways GRF2 functions in concert with proteins such as Ras and RhoA ensuring effective transmission and modulation of signals that govern various cellular activities.
