Supplementary information

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

The growth regulation by estrogen in breast cancer protein (GRWD1) has a role in DNA replication and chromatin remodeling. As an approximately 52 kDa protein GRWD1 interacts with several key cellular components. It is notably expressed in tissues with high cell turnover such as the liver and spleen indicating its role in actively dividing cells. This protein expression suggests it has a significant part in cell proliferation.
Biological function summary

GRWD1 plays a role in chromatin structure modulation and ribosome biogenesis. GRWD1 is part of the histone chaperone complex impacting the correct assembly of chromatin during DNA replication and repair. This function assists cells in maintaining genomic stability which is important during active transcription and replication processes. Additionally its role in ribosome biogenesis helps ensure that cells produce sufficient proteins during growth phases.

Pathways

GRWD1 is involved in the DNA replication checkpoint and ribosome assembly pathways. It interacts with several regulatory proteins including cyclins and CDKs as part of these processes highlighting its involvement in the cell cycle. GRWD1 is part of the pathway with other proteins like RPA and MCMs ensuring DNA is accurately replicated and cell growth progresses smoothly during the cell cycle.

GRWD1 links to cancer through its involvement in chromatin remodeling defects. Dysregulation or mutations in GRWD1 can contribute to oncogenesis including breast cancer. Its association with proteins such as p53 underlines the importance of its correct function in preventing unregulated cell proliferation. Additionally irregularities in GRWD1 have been connected to ribosomopathies further implicating it in conditions resulting from aberrant ribosome assembly.
