Supplementary information

HID1 also known as "hiding one" is a protein with a molecular mass of approximately 119 kDa. It plays an important role in intracellular trafficking and signaling. Researchers find HID1 expression mostly in neurons indicating a significant function in the central nervous system. Additionally HID1 is observed to localize within the Golgi apparatus suggesting its involvement in vesicular transport processes.
Biological function summary

HID1 regulates vesicle-mediated transport and neurotransmitter release. It is a part of a multi-protein complex involved in the cellular processes necessary for proper signal transmission between neurons. Within this context HID1 interacts with other endocytic proteins to ensure efficient synaptic vesicle recycling a process essential for maintaining synaptic function and plasticity.

Pathways

HID1's biological function integrates with the synaptic vesicle cycle and intracellular signaling pathways. Specifically it relates to the SNARE complex which is pivotal for vesicle docking and fusion events at synapses. HID1's association with the SNARE complex positions it as a significant factor in the regulation of neurosecretion and synaptic communication.

Research has linked HID1 to neurodegenerative diseases and potentially schizophrenia. Alterations in HID1 expression or function can impact neuronal communication and synaptic integrity contributing to these conditions. Moreover HID1 has shown a connection to the neurodegenerative disorder pathway alongside proteins like SNAP25 suggesting potential interaction or common involvement in disease mechanisms.
