Notes

ab248623 is the carrier-free version of Anti-HOXB9 antibody [EPR6950] ab133701.

Mouse, Rat: We have preliminary internal testing data to indicate this antibody may not react with these species. Please contact us for more information.

Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.

This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Activity summary

The HOXB9 protein also known as homeobox B9 acts as a transcription factor. This protein has a role in regulating gene expression during development. HOXB9 weighs approximately 27 kDa and it finds expression mainly in the lungs digestive system and hematopoietic cells. As part of the homeobox gene family HOXB9 contributes to the proper development and differentiation of tissues.

Biological function summary

HOXB9 helps regulate the growth and development of tissues and organs. It does not function alone but is part of a larger group of homeobox genes all of which work together for normal morphological development. This protein provides specificity in binding DNA sequences which in turn controls the expression of genes necessary for organogenesis.

Pathways

HOXB9 plays a role in the Wnt signaling pathway and the hedgehog signaling pathway. These pathways are essential for proper embryonic development. Within these pathways HOXB9 interacts with other proteins like β-catenin and Gli proteins supporting the regulation of cellular proliferation and differentiation.

Associated diseases and disorders

HOXB9 shows a significant relation to breast cancer and lung adenocarcinoma. In these cancers HOXB9 expression levels often increase contributing to tumor progression. This protein interacts with others involved in cancer pathways such as VEGF and MMPs promoting angiogenesis and metastasis. Researchers closely study HOXB9 as a potential target for therapeutic intervention in such malignancies.

We have systematically measured KD (the equilibrium dissociation constant between the antibody and its antigen), of more than 840 recombinant antibodies to assess not only their individual KD values but also to see the average affinity of antibody.
Based on the comparison with published literature values for mouse monoclonal antibodies, Recombinant antibodies appear to be on average 1-2 order of magnitude higher affinity.
