Function

Central component of the receptor complex responsible for the recognition and translocation of cytosolically synthesized mitochondrial preproteins. Together with TOM22 functions as the transit peptide receptor at the surface of the mitochondrion outer membrane and facilitates the movement of preproteins into the TOM40 translocation pore (By similarity). Required for the translocation across the mitochondrial outer membrane of cytochrome P450 monooxygenases.

    Western blot - HRP Anti-TOMM20 antibody [EPR15581-54] - Mitochondrial Marker (ab209951)

This blot was produced using a 4-12% Bis-tris gel under the MES buffer system. The gel was run at 200V for 35 minutes before being transferred onto a Nitrocellulose membrane at 30V for 70 minutes. The membrane was then blocked for an hour using 2% Bovine Serum Albumin before being incubated with ab209951 overnight at 4°C. Antibody binding was visualised using ECL development solution ECL Substrate Kit (High Sensitivity) ab133406.

All lanes: Western blot - HRP Anti-TOMM20 antibody [EPR15581-54] - Mitochondrial Marker (ab209951) at 1/5000 dilution

Lane 1: HepG2 (Human hepatocellular liver carcinoma cell line) Whole Cell Lysate at 10 µg

Lane 2: NIH 3T3 (Mouse embryonic fibroblast cell line) Whole Cell Lysate at 10 µg

Lane 3: PC12 (Rat adrenal pheochromocytoma cell line) Whole Cell Lysate at 10 µg

    Developed using the ECL technique.

    Performed under reducing conditions.

    Predicted band size: 16 kDa

    Observed band size: 15 kDa
