Product details

ab279341 is the carrier-free version of ab242130.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

IFFO1 also known as Intermediate Filament Family Orphan 1 is a protein that plays a role in structural support in cells. It weighs approximately 63 kDa. IFFO1 is expressed in various tissues with a higher concentration in the heart and skeletal muscles and also found in the liver and testis. This target is involved in maintaining the integrity of the cytoskeleton by interacting with other cytoskeletal proteins.
Biological function summary

The protein supports cellular architecture and dynamics during cell division and differentiation. IFFO1 can interact with other intermediate filament proteins but researchers suggest it may also function independently. Though not very well-studied it contributes to the stability of cells' mechanical properties playing a part in maintaining cellular organization and providing resilience against mechanical stress.

Pathways

Its involvement in cytoskeletal organization connects it with the cytoskeletal remodeling pathway which is fundamental for cellular shape and stability. It associates with proteins like vimentin and desmin which are important in this pathway. These interactions underline its contribution to cell structure and mechanics connecting it to both cellular movement and morphological changes.

Evidence links IFFO1 to muscular dystrophy where muscle integrity and function diminish and perhaps to certain liver conditions. The protein interacts with key structural entities like desmin which is also implicated in these disorders. Dysregulation of IFFO1 or its interacting partners may contribute to the disruption of muscle and liver function leading to progressive muscle disorders or hepatic pathologies.

Target data

Nuclear matrix protein involved in the immobilization of broken DNA ends and the suppression of chromosome translocation during DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) (PubMed : 31548606). Interacts with the nuclear lamina component LMNA, resulting in the formation of a nucleoskeleton that relocalizes to the DSB sites in a XRCC4-dependent manner and promotes the immobilization of the broken ends, thereby preventing chromosome translocation (PubMed : 31548606). Acts as a scaffold that allows the DNA repair protein XRCC4 and LMNA to assemble into a complex at the DSB sites (PubMed : 31548606).
