Receptor for both interleukin 4 and interleukin 13 (PubMed:17030238). Couples to the JAK1/2/3-STAT6 pathway. The IL4 response is involved in promoting Th2 differentiation. The IL4/IL13 responses are involved in regulating IgE production and, chemokine and mucus production at sites of allergic inflammation. In certain cell types, can signal through activation of insulin receptor substrates, IRS1/IRS2. Soluble IL4R (sIL4R) inhibits IL4-mediated cell proliferation and IL5 up-regulation by T-cells.

Flow cytometric analysis of BALB/c mouse PBMC untreated (Upper Left and Right) / BALB/c mouse PBMC treated with 5U/ml mouse IL-4 for 24h (Lower Left and Right) cells labeling IL-4R with ab322978 at 1/50 dilution (1ug) / Right compared with a Rabbit monoclonal IgG (Rabbit IgG, monoclonal [EPR25A] - Isotype Control ab172730) / Left isotype control.
Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (Alexa Fluor® 488, Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) preadsorbed ab150081) at 1/5000 dilution was used as the secondary antibody.
Gated on viable cells.
