Inhibins and activins inhibit and activate, respectively, the secretion of follitropin by the pituitary gland. Inhibins/activins are involved in regulating a number of diverse functions such as hypothalamic and pituitary hormone secretion, gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development and maturation, erythroid differentiation, insulin secretion, nerve cell survival, embryonic axial development or bone growth, depending on their subunit composition. Inhibins appear to oppose the functions of activins.

ab226845 is the carrier-free version of Anti-Inhibin beta B antibody [EPR2788(2)] ab128944.
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Inhibin beta B also known as INHBB protein is a subunit of the inhibin protein family. This protein has a molecular mass near 45 kDa. Inhibin beta B is expressed in the pituitary gland reproductive organs such as the ovary and testis and also can be found in the placenta. The subunit can dimerize with other members of the inhibin family to form dimers like activin AB which play a role in diverse physiological processes.
The inhibin protein and its subunits such as inhibin beta B participate in the regulation of reproductive functions. It is part of the activin-inhibin complex influencing the secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Inhibin beta B can bind with another inhibin beta chain or with inhibin alpha to form different dimers which exert distinct biological effects through their interaction with specific receptors on target cells.
Inhibin beta B is an essential component in the TGF-beta signaling pathway. It contributes to the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. Inhibin beta B interacts closely with proteins like follistatin which binds to activins and modulates their activities. The participation of inhibin beta B in this signaling pathway holds significant implications for its function in both reproductive and systemic processes.
Inhibin beta B shows a connection to conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and certain reproductive tumors. The imbalanced expression of this protein can contribute to the pathophysiology of these disorders. Alongside proteins such as inhibin alpha inhibin beta B's altered signaling activity in the TGF-beta pathway may influence disease progression making it a target of interest for therapeutic interventions.

We have systematically measured KD (the equilibrium dissociation constant between the antibody and its antigen), of more than 840 recombinant antibodies to assess not only their individual KD values but also to see the average affinity of antibody.
Based on the comparison with published literature values for mouse monoclonal antibodies, Recombinant antibodies appear to be on average 1-2 order of magnitude higher affinity.
