Biological function summary
IRF2BP1 interacts with other proteins to modulate transcriptional repression. It forms part of a complex that includes other co-repressors which collaborate to regulate gene expression tightly. One of its main functions is to inhibit the activity of IRF2 an important transcription factor involved in innate immunity. This inhibition allows for fine-tuning of the immune response and helps maintain immune homeostasis.
Pathways
IRF2BP1 functions within the interferon signaling pathway playing a regulatory role by modulating IRF2 activity. This pathway is important for responding to viral infections and other immune challenges. By interacting with IRF2 IRF2BP1 controls gene expression related to immune response. Additionally IRF2BP1 is involved in pathways related to transcriptional regulation where it may impact the expression of genes under specific conditions.
