IARS plays an important role in maintaining cellular homeostasis by ensuring the fidelity of protein translation. It forms part of a larger complex of aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases known for its multi-enzyme complex formation which assists in proper protein synthesis. Through its function in aminoacylation IARS maintains the balance necessary for cellular activity and division reflecting its importance across multiple biological processes.

IARS has important responsibilities in the translation process which is a fundamental pathway in gene expression.
