Kur also known as the voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv3.x is an integral membrane protein involved in potassium ion transport across cell membranes. With a molecular mass of approximately 85 kDa this channel exhibits a high expression level in central nervous system tissues particularly in neurons. It plays a critical role in modulating neuronal excitability and signal transmission by facilitating rapid repolarization of the action potential.
Biological function summary

The voltage-gated potassium channel Kv3.x influences neurotransmitter release and neuronal firing rate. This target does not function alone; rather it forms a part of a larger channel complex.
