Product details

ab250347 is the carrier-free version of ab181100.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

L12 also known as the 50S ribosomal protein L12 is an integral component of the bacterial ribosome. It plays a mechanical role in protein synthesis by facilitating the binding of translation factors. It's expressed in prokaryotic organisms and has a molecular mass of approximately 12 kDa. Its structural placement in the ribosome is essential for the proper functioning of the ribosomal machinery enabling efficient protein translation.
Biological function summary

L12 is an essential part of the ribosomal complex a multi-component structure responsible for protein synthesis. As part of the ribosomal stalk L12 functions in recruiting and interacting with GTPases which are important for translation accuracy and efficiency. Its role in the ribosome is critical for the interaction with elongation factors EF-Tu and EF-G ensuring the correct assembly and translocation of aminoacyl-tRNAs during protein synthesis.

Pathways

L12's involvement in protein translation places it at the heart of the central dogma of molecular biology. It participates in the translation pathway closely interacting with proteins like EF-Tu and EF-G. These interactions facilitate the transition of ribosomes through various stages of the translation cycle ensuring proper protein synthesis. The 50S ribosomal subunit which contains L12 cooperates with the 30S subunit in the intricate process of mRNA decoding and peptide bond formation.

L12's function connects to antibiotic resistance in bacteria due to its role in ribosomal activity. Modifications or mutations in ribosomal components including L12 may result in resistance to antibiotics that target the ribosome such as erythromycin. The involvement of L12 in diseases also ties it to ribosomal protein mutations which can lead to translational dysfunctions associated with pathological conditions. The study of L12 provides insights into understanding and combating bacterial infections as well as informing the development of new antibiotics.
