Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Anti-LAS1L antibody (AB236954)
HepG2 (Human liver hepatocellular carcinoma cell line) cells stained for LAS1L (green) using ab236954 at 1/266 dilution in ICC/IF, followed by an Alexa-Fluor®488-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG (H+L). Counterstained with DAPI (blue).
The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal goat serum. The cells were then incubated with primary antibody overnight at 4°C.

Biological function summary
LAS1L serves significant functions in the nucleolus within cell nucleuses. As a component of a larger complex called the pre-ribosome LAS1L coordinates with other proteins to facilitate the cleavage of pre-rRNA into smaller ribosomal RNA units. This activity is essential for producing functional ribosomal units which are important for protein synthesis. Its interaction with proteins such as GTPases and endonucleases is important for maintaining ribosome assembly fidelity.
Pathways
LAS1L operates within the ribosome biogenesis pathway closely interacting with proteins like PELP1 and NOL9. It plays a role in the mTOR signaling pathway impacting cell growth and proliferation. The protein also helps regulate downstream processes critical for the final assembly of ribosomal subunits integrating cellular nutrient signals with ribosome production.
