Supplementary information

LIN52 also known as LINC01143 is a protein with a molecular mass of approximately 14 kDa. Mechanically LIN52 plays a role in regulating the cell cycle and transcription processes. It interacts with other proteins to form complexes that are important for controlling cellular processes. LIN52 is widely expressed in various tissues including the brain placenta and ovary indicating its significant contribution to multiple cell functions throughout the body.
Biological function summary

LIN52 is part of the DREAM complex which is involved in cell cycle regulation. This complex is essential for the repression of E2F-target genes during the quiescent phase of the cell cycle thereby inhibiting premature cell progression. LIN52's interaction with other elements of the DREAM complex allows for proper cell cycle arrest and its dysfunction can lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation.

Pathways

LIN52 is involved in the regulation of the cell cycle and transcription pathways. In the context of the cell cycle pathway it works alongside proteins like RB (Retinoblastoma) E2F and other members of the DREAM complex to maintain proper cell cycle control and response to proliferative signals. LIN52 also participates in transcription regulation pathways interacting with other transcriptional factors to modulate gene expression in response to cellular needs.

LIN52 dysfunction or altered expression is associated with several cancer types including ovarian and breast cancers. Its role in the DREAM complex links it to proteins such as RB whose mutations or inactivation are common in these cancers. LIN52's involvement in cell cycle control makes it a target of interest for understanding and potentially treating disorders characterized by abnormal cell growth.
