Supplementary information

LINC00493 also known as Long Intergenic Non-Protein Coding RNA 493 is a type of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA). These are transcripts that do not code for proteins but play important roles in gene regulation. LINC00493 weighs approximately 1.2 kDa. It is found in several tissues including predominantly in the brain and breast tissues. Its expression patterns indicate a potential role in specific cellular environments where it may act by influencing the expression of adjacent genes.
Biological function summary

LncRNAs such as LINC00493 modulate various gene regulatory processes. LINC00493 functions do not align with classical enzymatic or structural protein roles but instead engage in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation. It often acts in concert with protein complexes such as those involving chromatin-modifying enzymes facilitating modifications of the DNA or histones which affect gene expression patterns significantly.

Pathways

Researchers have linked LINC00493 to transcriptional and epigenetic regulation pathways. In particular LINC00493 interacts with known regulators of the Wnt signaling pathway which is important for cell proliferation and differentiation. The relationship links it to important control of cellular cycles and might interact with proteins such as β-catenin an important player in Wnt signaling indicating a potential role in cell growth and tissue development.

Experts have identified a connection between LINC00493 and certain cancers notably breast cancer. Aberrant expression of LINC00493 correlates with oncogenesis and tumor progression suggesting a role in cancer biology. Furthermore its interaction with proteins involved in cancer pathways such as MYC links it to broader carcinogenic processes. Studies also suggest its involvement in neurological disorders indicating that LINC00493 might play a role in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative conditions due to its expression patterns in brain tissues.
