Biological function summary
LTB contributes to the formation and maintenance of secondary lymphoid tissues. LTB forms a complex with Lymphotoxin Alpha in a heterotrimeric arrangement which links it to immune responses by managing lymphoid organogenesis. It participates in regulating inflammation and maintaining organized lymphoid architecture impacting germinal center formation in response to antigenic stimulation.
Pathways
LTB plays a significant role in the NF-kB signaling pathway and lymphoid tissue organization. It interacts with the NF-kB pathway by engaging lymphotoxin-beta receptor (LTBR) leading to the activation of transcription factors. This interaction is vital in ensuring the proper migration and positioning of leukocytes associating LTB closely with proteins like LTBR and Rel proteins.
