Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Anti-MAP2 (phospho S136) antibody [EPR2361] - BSA and Azide free (AB247601)

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence analysis of mouse primary neuron + Alkaline Phosphatase cells labeling MAP2 with purified ab96378 at 1/500 (3 μg/mL). Cells were fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde and permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100. Cells were counterstained with ab195889 Anti-alpha Tubulin antibody [DM1A] - Microtubule Marker (Alexa Fluor® 594) 1/200 (2.5 μg/mL). Goat anti rabbit IgG (Alexa Fluor® 488, ab150077) was used as the secondary antibody at 1/1000 (2 μg/mL) dilution. DAPI (blue) was used as nuclear counterstain. PBS instead of the primary antibody was used as the secondary antibody only control.
Confocal scanning Z step was set as 0.3 μm followed by image processing with maximum Z projection.

This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (ab96378).

The exact function of MAP2 is unknown but MAPs may stabilize the microtubules against depolymerization. They also seem to have a stiffening effect on microtubules.
