Chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils. May play a role in neoplasia and inflammatory host responses. This protein can bind heparin. The processed form MCP-2(6-76) does not show monocyte chemotactic activity, but inhibits the chemotactic effect most predominantly of CCL7, and also of CCL2 and CCL5 and CCL8.

ab244845 is a BSA and Azide Free antibody supplied in an unconjugated format and it is suitable for sandwich ELISAs to quantify Human MCP2. The recommended pair for sandwich ELISA is:
Capture: ab244845, Human MCP2 Capture Antibody (unconjugated)
Detector: Anti-MCP2 antibody [EPR20081-86] - BSA and Azide free (Detector) ab244927, Human MCP2 Detector Antibody (unconjugated)
The reference range value is 1.25 - 160 pg/ml.
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
The recommended antibody orientation is based on internal optimization for ELISA-based assays. Antibody orientation is assay dependent and needs to be optimized for each assay type. Please note that the range provided for this antibody is only an estimation based on the performance of the product using the recommended antibody pair. Performance of the antibody pair will depend on the specific characteristics of your assay. We guarantee the product works in sandwich ELISA, but we do not guarantee the sensitivity or dynamic range of the antibody in your assay.
MCP2 also known as CCL8 or monocyte chemoattractant protein-2 plays an important role in leukocyte trafficking. This chemokine has a molecular weight of approximately 8 kDa. CCL8 is expressed in various tissues including macrophages fibroblasts and endothelial cells and it is particularly high during inflammatory responses. The MCP2 protein attracts immune cells such as monocytes and T cells to sites of infection or injury.
MCP2 influences the migration and activation of leukocytes enhancing the body's immune response. MCP2 interacts with chemokine receptors like CCR2 and CCR5 facilitating the movement of immune cells through tissues. This protein is not usually part of larger complexes but works closely with other chemokines to coordinate cellular responses during inflammation. MCP2 activity is important in processes that require rapid cell recruitment and immune surveillance.
MCP2 functions within the chemokine signaling pathway and plays a significant part in the inflammatory response pathway. MCP2 closely interacts with chemokine receptors such as CCR2 which is also engaged by related chemokines like MCP1 (CCL2). MCP2 and MCP1 share functional similarities in modulating the immune response though they target different receptor profiles that expand their influence across numerous immune processes.
MCP2 is associated with inflammatory diseases and certain types of cancer. Rheumatoid arthritis shows heightened levels of MCP2 contributing to the persistent inflammation characteristic of the disorder. Elevated MCP2 levels have also been noticed in tumor microenvironments suggesting a role in cancer metastasis where it might interact with proteins such as IL-6 to promote the survival and migration of tumor cells.
