MED25 also known as ARC92 is a subunit of the mediator complex a multiprotein structure that modulates transcription of RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. MED25 has a molecular mass of approximately 80 kDa and shows expression in various tissues including the brain liver and heart. The protein serves as an important link between transcription factors and the basal transcription machinery functioning mechanically as a scaffold facilitating the assembly of transcriptional complexes.

The MED25 protein plays an essential role in regulating gene expression by interacting with transcription factors. MED25 is part of the larger mediator complex which acts as a bridge to convey regulatory signals from enhancers to promoters. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. Mediator is recruited to promoters by direct interactions with regulatory proteins and serves as a scaffold for the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors. Required for RARA/RXRA-mediated transcription.
