The biological target MEX3C also known as RKHD3 or MEX-3 homolog C is a protein that functions mechanically as an RNA-binding protein. It has a mass of approximately 73 kilodaltons. MEX3C is expressed in various tissues including the brain skeletal muscle and kidney. It contains KH domains responsible for binding RNA enabling it to regulate the fate of specific mRNA molecules influencing mRNA stability and translation.
Biological function summary

MEX3C acts as a post-transcriptional regulator and is involved in mRNA decay and modulation. It does not appear to be a part of any large protein complexes but regulates the expression of a variety of cellular factors by binding target mRNAs. This control mechanism allows MEX3C to influence cell differentiation and development by affecting protein synthesis at the post-transcriptional level.

E3 ubiquitin ligase responsible for the post-transcriptional regulation of common HLA-A allotypes. Binds to the 3' UTR of HLA-A2 mRNA, and regulates its levels by promoting mRNA decay. RNA binding is sufficient to prevent translation, but ubiquitin ligase activity is required for mRNA degradation.
