We have systematically measured KD (the equilibrium dissociation constant between the antibody and its antigen), of more than 840 recombinant antibodies to assess not only their individual KD values but also to see the average affinity of antibody. Based on the comparison with published literature values for mouse monoclonal antibodies, Recombinant antibodies appear to be on average 1-2 order of magnitude higher affinity.

Supplementary information

The mitochondria fission factor (MFF) also known as C2orf33 or mitochondrial fission factor plays a significant role in the control of mitochondrial fission. MFF has a molecular weight of approximately 29 kDa and is expressed abundantly in tissues with high energy demands including the heart brain and muscles. By directly interacting with the dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1) MFF facilitates the Drp1 recruitment to the mitochondrial outer membrane which is a critical step in the mitochondrial division process.
Biological function summary

The MFF protein promotes the division of mitochondria which is vital for maintaining the health and function of cells. MFF is a part of the mitochondrial fission complex a group of proteins responsible for regulating mitochondrial morphology. It plays an important role in cellular processes such as energy production apoptosis and cellular response to stress by modulating mitochondrial dynamics.

Pathways

MFF interacts with other proteins to regulate mitochondrial fission which is an integral part of the mitochondrial dynamics pathways. It participates prominently in pathways controlling energy metabolism and apoptosis. MFF works closely with proteins like Drp1 and has connections to pathways involving fission and fusion processes that maintain mitochondrial homeostasis and adapt to metabolic needs.

Disruptions in MFF function are associated with conditions like neurodegenerative diseases and metabolic disorders. Impaired mitochondrial fission can contribute to diseases such as Alzheimer's where abnormal mitochondrial dynamics play a role in disease progression. MFF's connection with Drp1 also implicates it in metabolic disorders where energy production and mitochondrial function are disrupted indicating its involvement in maintaining cellular energy balance and neuronal health.

Target data

Plays a role in mitochondrial and peroxisomal fission (PubMed : 18353969, PubMed : 23530241, PubMed : 24196833). Promotes the recruitment and association of the fission mediator dynamin-related protein 1 (DNM1L) to the mitochondrial surface (PubMed : 23530241). May be involved in regulation of synaptic vesicle membrane dynamics by recruitment of DNM1L to clathrin-containing vesicles (By similarity).
