ab249929 is the carrier-free version of Anti-MFRP antibody [EPR11616] ab176574.
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.
The Membrane Frizzled-Related Protein commonly known as MFRP is a protein encoded by the MFRP gene in humans. MFRP has a mass of approximately 62 kDa and functions at the cellular level as part of the control system for eye growth and visual acuity. This protein is mainly expressed in the retina particularly in the retinal pigment epithelium and the ciliary body. The presence of MFRP is significant for eye development and maintaining visual capabilities.
MFRP acts to regulate the length of eye axial growth which is important in focusing light onto the retina. MFRP interacts with other components of the visual pathway and is believed to form a complex with CTRP5 another retinal protein to impact the structural and functional integrity of the eyes. This complex contributes to the stability of the retina and prevents excessive eye elongation that could lead to refractive issues.
MFRP participates in the visual perception pathway and plays a regulatory role in the phototransduction pathway. It interacts with proteins related to these pathways such as G-protein coupled receptors which are essential for transmitting light signals from the retina to the brain. MFRP may influence the signaling mechanisms that govern gap junctions thereby affecting cellular communication and maintenance of retinal tissues.
Mutations or malfunctions in MFRP have strong associations with retinal dystrophies such as nanophthalmos and retinitis pigmentosa. These conditions lead to progressive vision loss and in some cases complete blindness due to the degeneration of photoreceptor cells in the retina. Studies have shown that MFRP dysfunction influences interactions with proteins like Protocadherin 21 thereby exacerbating retinal degenerative processes and impacting visual health.
