Recombinant antibodies

Recombinant antibodies have the highest level of reproducibility and flexibility. Recombinant manufacturing from known antibody gene sequences means that it is possible to produce exactly the same antibody molecule batch after batch, year after year. Recombinant antibodies also offer the flexibility to alter the constant domain regions of the antibody for use in a variety of assay types.

Our catalog features over 36,000 recombinant antibodies so that you can advance your research with tools designed for exceptional performance and reliability.

Monoclonal antibodies

Rabbit monoclonal antibodies

Rabbit monoclonal antibodies represent a significant advancement in the field of immunodetection, compared to the traditional method of generating monoclonal antibodies in mice. The immune response of rabbits typically produces more diverse antibodies than mice. This means that there is a higher probability of generating a high affinity and highly specific rabbit monoclonal antibody that can be used across a wide range of applications.

Our rabbit monoclonal antibodies have been used in over 115,000 scientific publications. We carefully validate our antibodies in western blot, IHC, fluorescence cell imaging, flow cytometry, ELISA and other applications to ensure the highest quality.

Mouse monoclonal antibodies

Mouse monoclonal antibodies are highly specific antibodies produced by identical immune cells that are clones of a unique parent cell.

Our mouse monoclonal antibodies have been used in over 100,000 scientific publications. In addition to recently developed clones, Abcam also supplies many mouse monoclonal clones which have been used in research for decades as standard tools.

Rat monoclonal antibodies

Rat monoclonal antibodies provide a useful complement to the more commonly used mouse monoclonal and rabbit monoclonal antibodies. They have been used to develop antibodies against mouse proteins, where it is difficult to generate a mouse monoclonal. They are also used heavily in multicolor imaging using secondary antibodies, enabling staining of more proteins at the same time, when combined with mouse, rabbit and chicken antibodies.

Chimeric antibodies, including chicken and goat monoclonal antibodies

Chimeric antibodies combine the binding regions (variable domain) from the parent rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody with the constant region from a different species. This innovative approach preserves the high performance and binding properties of the original recombinant monoclonal antibody while introducing a diverse range of species backbones, including mouse (IgG1, IgG2a), rat (IgG2a), chicken (IgY), and goat (IgG). Abcam has developed over 300 chimeric antibodies derived from our rabbit monoclonals, with the new antibodies on mouse, rat, chicken, and goat antibody backbones.
