Product details

ab250315 is the carrier-free version of ab181058.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

MRPL20 or mitochondrial ribosomal protein L20 is a component of the mitochondrial ribosome involved in protein synthesis within the mitochondria. MRPL20 weighs around 27 kDa and is key in the formation and function of the mitochondrial large ribosomal subunit. It is expressed ubiquitously with high levels in tissues that demand significant energy such as the brain heart and skeletal muscle.
Biological function summary

MRPL20 plays a role in protein assembly within mitochondria forming part of the 39S ribosomal subunit. It interacts with RNA and other ribosomal proteins to ensure proper mitochondrial protein translation. MRPL20 works in close relationship with other mitochondrial ribosomal proteins such as MRPL3 and MRPL15 facilitating efficient mitochondrial biogenesis and energy production.

Pathways

The MRPL20 protein is significant in the mitochondrial translation pathway which is important for respiratory chain complex assembly. It aids in encoding proteins necessary for oxidative phosphorylation. MRPL20 associates with proteins like MRPS12 and MRPS18A which participate in mitochondrial protein synthesis integrating into the broader mitochondrial function and energy production network.

MRPL20 is linked to mitochondrial dysfunction and related diseases such as mitochondrial encephalomyopathy and cardiomyopathy. These conditions can result from mutations affecting MRPL20 disrupting mitochondrial protein synthesis and impairing energy production. MRPL20 interacts with proteins like MFN2 which are also involved in mitochondrial maintenance and have roles in disorders related to energy deficits in the human body.
