Product details

ab250827 is the carrier-free version of ab185233.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

MRPS26 also known as Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein S26 is a component of the mitochondrial ribosome small subunit (28S) in humans. It has a mass of about 23 kDa and primarily facilitates protein synthesis within mitochondria. MRPS26 is expressed across various tissues but shows a higher expression rate in tissues with high energy demands including the heart skeletal muscle and brain.
Biological function summary

MRPS26 functions as an integral part of the mitochondrial ribosome which is a complex essential for the translation of mitochondrial-encoded proteins. These proteins are critical for maintaining the mitochondrial respiratory chain. MRPS26 contributes to the proper assembly and stability of the ribosomal structure working alongside other mitochondrial ribosomal proteins to ensure efficient protein synthesis within the mitochondria.

Pathways

MRPS26 plays an essential role in the mitochondrial translation pathway related to oxidative phosphorylation. This pathway is important for ATP production driving energy metabolism in aerobic conditions. MRPS26 is also associated with key proteins like MRPS16 and MRPS23 within the mitochondrial ribosomal complex which together facilitate mitochondrial biogenesis and energy conversion processes.

MRPS26 is implicated in conditions linked to mitochondrial dysfunction such as mitochondrial myopathy and neurodegenerative diseases. Mutations or dysregulation within this protein or its associated complex can lead to impaired mitochondrial protein synthesis contributing to these disorders. Proteins such as MRPS22 have also displayed connections to similar pathologies highlighting the cooperative role these ribosomal subunits play in maintaining mitochondrial integrity.
