Biological function summary
Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase B3 protects cells against oxidative stress by repairing oxidized methionine residues in proteins. It serves as an important player in protein repair mechanisms. MSRB3 acts independently and is not known to form parts of larger complexes. This function makes it essential for cellular resilience against oxidative damage and supports the integrity of cellular proteins under stress conditions.
Pathways
MSRB3 functions mainly within the oxidative stress response pathway where it collaborates with methionine sulfoxide reductase A (MSRA) another enzyme with a similar function. Collectively these proteins help restore oxidized methionine residues an important step in maintaining protein structure and function. MSRB3 also influences the methionine cycle which connects to broader processes such as cellular antioxidant defense.
