NAB1 also known as NGFI-A-binding protein 1 is a transcriptional repressor that interacts with zinc finger proteins to regulate gene expression. NAB1 has a molecular mass of approximately 66 kDa. This protein is expressed in various tissues including the nervous system. It plays a role in modulating the activity of target genes by binding to specific DNA sequences in cooperation with EGR transcription factors.
Biological function summary

NAB1 functions as a critical regulator in cellular processes by forming a complex with EGR-1 also known as early growth response protein 1. This interaction allows NAB1 to influence the expression of several genes involved in cell differentiation proliferation and apoptosis.
