Notes

ab248959 is the carrier-free version of Anti-NAB1 antibody [EPR8227(2)] ab150389.

Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.

This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Activity summary

NAB1 also known as NGFI-A-binding protein 1 is a transcriptional repressor that interacts with zinc finger proteins to regulate gene expression. NAB1 has a molecular mass of approximately 66 kDa. This protein is expressed in various tissues including the nervous system. It plays a role in modulating the activity of target genes by binding to specific DNA sequences in cooperation with EGR transcription factors.

Biological function summary

NAB1 functions as a critical regulator in cellular processes by forming a complex with EGR-1 also known as early growth response protein 1. This interaction allows NAB1 to influence the expression of several genes involved in cell differentiation proliferation and apoptosis. NAB1 ensures proper cellular responses to environmental stimuli by repressing gene transcription that EGR-1 activates.

Pathways

NAB1 frequently associates with the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway and the apoptotic pathway. In the MAPK/ERK pathway it operates alongside proteins like EGR-1 to influence cellular proliferation and differentiation. Meanwhile NAB1's role in the apoptotic pathway is related to its interaction with genes and proteins regulating cell death enabling cells to respond appropriately to stress signals.

Associated diseases and disorders

NAB1 has been linked to conditions like cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Aberrant expression or dysfunction of NAB1 along with changes in other proteins such as EGR-1 can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and transformation contributing to tumorigenesis. Additionally misregulation of NAB1 may play a part in neurodegenerative disorders by affecting neuron survival and death though further research is needed to fully understand these connections.
